Default Clearing up Two Accounts

Hey,

As much as i have little hope in anet actually looking at this, they seem to be off the radar at the moment, i thought i'd see what you guys think.

I myself have two GW accounts, my main and a prophecies only mule account.

I tend to use a program i found in Community Works (think it was, or technicians) called GWx2. This program lets me run two guild wars simultaneously on one pc, so i can make transfers from my main account to my mule without having to go through a medium (median? its early...).

I've only been transferring items i'd like to keep that've bunged up my storage and as of yet havent transferred money.

But since Anet has been so trigger happy with banning these days, i probably won't be using it, but can we get some damn guidelines? I mean i can really see anet banning anyone connecting two accounts to their server using 1 IP simultaneously in an instant.

I'm afraid i can't remember where i read it but i remember reading Gaile herself has used a program like this to transfer items across her many accounts.

What're your thoughts?

I've been using GWx2 for some time to transfer items and cash between accounts. So far I have not had any problem. I typically transfer a lot of items (storage management) but only transfer about 10 or 20K at one time.

Just out of curiosity, wouldn't you also only have 1 ip address if two computers on your network access gw through the same router? If that's the case though, the idea that they'd ban you for playing with your family member seems.. absurd.

Yes ... same computer, same IP. (GWx2 allows you to load 2 game clients on same computer)

Don't get in a panic because a few people have been banned, some of them deserved it, and other just looked guilty (transfering 600k from one account to another...)

GWx2 is not endorsed or supported by Anet, but they also aren't openly forbidding it.

I use it but mainly only in town and my guild hall, and both accounts are in my Alliance, and I play regularly on both. So it wouldn't be unusally for the two to appear on my IP.

I wouldn't suggest using it to play dual characters in a mission or chatting with yourself in town. But for a quick storage tranfer its good.

And if your are banned I figure you have 2 options..

I'll post the helpful one first,
If you are banned, contact support and attempt to get someon official to sort the problem out, remain civil and nice and something will come of it. But never give up

Second option, start a thread at a community site and complain for about 13-25 pages how unfair it is and add in a lot of crying and emo comments, and then realise one day a month or two later that you should have contacted support.

Sorry, did you mean aren't? Just making sure, because if they're openly forbidding it bans shall be imminent...

There's a term for this: FUD (fear, uncertainty, doubt).

A handful of people gets mistakenly banned. And suddenly, everyone is running for the hills, saying their prayers, and asking for redemption.

Despite the general panic that many people have fallen into: Nothing has happened.

When it comes to anything not provided by Anet, they will *never* endorse it. Reason for this is simple - they don't control it. As such, they cannot endorse something that could be abused.

There are only two third-party things that will get you in trouble. 1) bots and bot-like software, macroing, etc. They don't care how you do it, but if your characters exhibit botlike behavior (even if it's human playing for 16 hours nonstop every day) you are risking a ban. 2) Keyloggers and malware in general. Anet doesn't care about that, but you get your account stolen

Everything else is fair game, but anything you download that doesn't come from Anet's site is possible 2) - malware. Hence they cannot endorse it.

But nobody will ever get banned for using a tool that doesn't violate the EULA in ways that hurt other people's gameplay.

personally i'm not worried really, since i have done nothing wrong.

the thing i see is if someone were running bots on pc's wouldn't they run more than one GW per pc at a time?

if so then there's nothing to really distinguish between that and someone using it to transfer across their own personal accounts.

just wondering what you think since these grey area's of the EULA seem to be getting greyer these days, if that makes sense.
